TYLER BATE

Tyler Bate is a 26-year-old professional wrestler for the United Kingdom. He is currently signed with the WWE and performs on both NXT and the NXT UK brands.

Bate made his wrestling debut in Preston City Wrestling as “The Iron Master” Tyler Bate at PCW Fright Night III in 2014. At his debut, he participated in a losing, 4-way match also featuring Charlie Garrett, Rich Swann and Zack Gibson. In early 2015, Bate debuted for American promotion, Chikara, alongside Trent Seven as part of their tour of the United Kingdom.

Together, Bate and Seven wrestled in several dark matches and then began appearing regularly for Chikara in 2016. On August 21, 2016, they defeated Los Ice Creams, N_R_G, and The Devastation Corporation to win the Chikara Campeonatos de Parejas. They were stripped of the title during Chikara’s secret season 16.

Bate Teams with Trent Seven & Pete Dunne

In 2017, Tyler Bate teamed with Trent Seven and Pete Dunne, to form “House Strong Style,” and they entered the 2017 King of Trios. House Strong Style defeated House Whitewolf in the first round and then beat House Throwbacks in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, House Strong Style defeated House Rot and in the finals, they beat the House Sendai Girls to win the 2017 King of Trios.

Bate debuted for Progress Wrestling at the promotion’s Chapter 22 in a Natural Progression Series quarter final match, where he lost to William Eaver. His first appearance in Progress alongside Trent Seven as Moustache Mountain was in a loss to Damian and Pete Dunne at Chapter 28. At Chapter 41, Tyler Bate and Trent Seven defeated The London Riots and The LDRS of the New School (Zack Sabre Jr. and Marty Scurll) in a three-way tag team match to win the vacant Progress World Championship. At Chapter 50, Bate and Seven lost the Tag Team Championships to #CCK (Chris Brookes and Kid Lykos). After regaining the title, Bate and Seven lost it back to #CCK in a ladder match on September 10, 2017.

Tyler Bate’s WWE Debut & Contract

On January 14 and 15, 2017, WWE held a tournament to crown the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion. Tyler Bate was one of 16 men who entered the tournament. In the first round, Bate defeated Tucker to advance to the quarterfinals. He then defeated Jordan Devlin to advance to the semi-finals where he beat Wolfgang. In the final round, Tyler Bate defeated Pete Dunne to become the inaugural champion. At 19 years old, Bate was only the second teenager in WWE history to win a title. Tyler Bate signed a contract with WWE, which allowed him to continue taking independent bookings with some restrictions.

On February 1, 2017, Tyler Bate defeated Oney Lurcan in his NXT debut. He appeared on 205 Live on April 4 along with the wrestlers who participated in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament. Bate lost the title at NXT TakeOver: Chicago to Pete Dunne. Bate competed in the WWE Cruiserweight Championship tournament in January 2018, where he was defeated by TJP in the first round.

British Strong Style Becomes NXT Tag Team Champions

At the second annual United Kingdom Championship Tournament in June 2019, Bate, Dunne and Seven (known in Europe as British Strong Style) defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) in a six-man tag team match. On day two of the tournament, Tyler Bate and Trent Seven defeated O’Reilly and Strong to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship, but then lost the titles back to O’Reilly and Strong on the July 11th episode of NXT. At NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4, Bate and Seven were unable to regain the titles in a rematch.

On December 20, 2018, Bate received his rematch for the WWE United Kingdom Championship, but lost to Pete Dunne again. On the January 2, 2019, episode of NXT UK Moustache Mountain defeated Gallus to advance to the finals to become the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions. At NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool, Moustache Mountain lost to Grizzled Young Veterans in the finals.

At NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff, Tyler Bate faced Walter for the WWE United Kingdom Championship, but he failed to regain the championship.

Tyler Bate Wins NXT UK Heritage Cup

Tyler Bate defeated A-Kid to win the Heritage Cup on NXT UK’s May 20th episode. He retained the title against Jack Starz & Mark Coffey on the July 1 & 15 episodes of NXT UK. On the October 28, 2021 episode of NXT UK, Bate lost the title to Noam Dar after Trent Seven quit during an altercation with Pretty Deadly at ringside.
