SHOTZI

Ashley Louise Urbanski is a 31-year-old professional wrestler from Santa Clara, California. She is currently signed with the WWE and performs on SmackDown. Her ring name is Shotzi.

Urbanski began her wrestling career at Hoodslam, an underground wrestling event in California, in 2014. After that, she started making frequent appearances on the California independent scene. She wrestled for promotions like All Pro Wrestling, Bar Wrestling, and Big Time Wrestling.

Urbanski’s Early Wrestling Career

Urbanski began traveling across the United States in the fall of 2016 to wrestle in other promotions. She appeared in events for RISE Wrestling, SHIMMER Women Athletes and others. As well, she began travelling abroad to to wrestle. She competed in Mexico’s Desastre Total Ultraviolento, England’s British Empire Wrestling, Preston City Wrestling, International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom and Pro Wrestling EVE.

While wrestling on the independent scene, Urbanski won numerous championship titles. These included the SHINE Wrestling’s SHINA Nova Championship, RISE Wrestling’s Phoenix Of RISE Championship. She also won the Alternative Wrestling Show’s Women’s Championship and the EBPW Ladies Championship.

Urbanski’s WWE Tryout

Originally, Urbanski tried out for the WWE in 2015 for the company’s Tough Enough sixth season television show. She was selected as one of the six women who would take part in that season’s competition, but had to withdraw before the season began. Urbanski withdrew because it was discovered that she had an undiagnosed irregular heartbeat.

While wresting at Evolve 137, Urbanski was offered a contract with the WWE by William Regal. Urbanski accepted and signed with WWE in October 2019. Her official WWE debut was in December 2019 at a NXT live event. She made her televised debut as Shotzi Blackheart on the Christmas edition of NXT, in a losing match to Bianca Belair.

On January 15, 2020, Blackheart competed in a number one contendership battle royal for the NXT Women’s Championship. While she didn’t win the match, Shotzi scored the elimination of Shayna Baszler before being eliminated by the match’s winner, Bianca Belair.

During her second singles match, Shotzi lost to Shayna Baszler on the January 22nd episode of NXT. In January 2020, Blackheart also competed in her first Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. She participated in the Women’s Royal Rumble match as entrant #26 but was soon eliminated by her rival, Shayna Baszler.

The following week, Blackheart won her first singles victory on the January 29th episode of NXT, defeating Deonna Purrazzo. In July 2020, Blackheart lost to Indi Hartwell after interference from Aliyah and Robert Stone.

Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon Become NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship

On March 10, 2021, Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon defeated inaugural champions, Dakota Kai and Raquel González for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.

In a brutal street fight on NXT’s May 4th episode, Blackheart and Moon dropped the titles to Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell. Their reign as NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions lasted 55 days.

Shotzi Moves to SmackDown

With a shortened ring name, Shotzi made her WWE main roster debut on July 9th’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The team was disbanded when, as part of the 2021 Draft, Nox was drafted to the RAW brand. Shotzi remained on the SmackDown brand.

On the October 29 episode of SmackDown, after her match with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in a championship contenders match, Shotzi attacked Sasha Banks who was at ringside, thus turning heel for the first time in her career.
