PETE DUNNE

Peter Thomas England is a 26-year-old professional wrestler from England. He is currently signed with the WWE and performs on the NXT brand under the ring name, Pete Dunne.

England began his training at the age of 12 years old and made his in-ring debut at the 2007 Holbrooks Festival in Coventry. In 2010, he began competing under the ring name, Pete Dunne, and teamed up with his kayfabe brother, Damian Dunne. In 2011, Pete Dunne began wrestling in international promotions like LDN Wrestling, Dublin Championship Wrestling, Celtic Wrestling, Welsh Wrestling, Royal Imperial Wrestling, and PBW.

In 2011, Pete Dunne and his friend, Jim Lee co-founded Attack! Pro Wrestling in Birmingham. Dunne wrestled for Attack! until 2016. He also wrestled for Michinoku Pro Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling, Progress Wrestling, and Chikara.

In January 2017, Pete Dunne competed in the WWE’s two-night United Kingdom Championship Tournament. Dunne defeated Roy Johnson in the first round and then defeated Sam Gradwell and Mark Andrews to advance to the finals where he lost to Tyler Bate.

After the UK Championship tournament, Pete Dunne signed with WWE and began performing on NXT. In May 2017, Dunne became the number one contender for the United Kingdom Championship and went on to defeat Tyler Bate at NXT TakeOver: Chicago to become the UK Champion. Throughout 2018, Dunne successfully defended his title against various talent and Zack Gibson, the winner of the 2018 UK Championship tournament. Dunne remained champion and his reign was record setting at 685 days. He finally lost the title at NXT TakeOver: New York to Walter.

In January 2019, Pete Dunne returned to regular NXT and became the number one contender for the NXT Championship after defeating Damian Priest and Killian Dain in a triple threat match at Survivor Series. At Survivor Series, Dunne was unsuccessful in his match again Adam Cole.

In January 2020, Pete Dunne teamed with Matt Riddle to compete in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament for a chance to become the number one contenders for a match against NXT Tag Team champions, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly. Dunne and Riddle, who were known as The BroserWeights, won the tournament and defeated Fish and O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver: Portland to become the NXT Tag Team Champions.

Due to COVID-19 and the pandemic, Dunne became inactive and could not travel to the US to compete with Riddle. In his absence, Timothy Thatcher replaced Dunne and their titles were lost in May to Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel.

Pete Dunne has not returned to in-ring action but is still part of the WWE NXT roster.
