MARK COFFEY

Mark Coffey is a 32-year-old professional wrestler from Glasgow, Scotland. Coffey is currently signed to WWE and performs on the NXT UK brand. Mark Coffey is one half of the NXT Tag Team Champions alongside his partner, Wolfgang. Their tag team is called Gallus.

Coffey made his professional wrestling debut for Scottish Wrestling Alliance on August 28, 2010, under the ring name, Mark Anthony. He teamed with Eric Canyon in a losing match against his brother, Joe, and Lewis Girvan.

Coffey’s Independent Wrestling Circuit Stint

After his debut, Mark Coffey went on to wrestle in Scotland for various independent UK promotions including Source Wrestling School, Union Of European Wrestling Alliances, Premier British Wrestling, British Championship Wrestling, World Wide Wrestling League, Tidal Championship Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Elite and Insane Championship Wrestling.

In January 2012, Mark Coffey had his first match for Insane Championship Wrestling in a number one contendership battle royal for the ICW World Heavyweight Championship. While Coffey didn’t win that match, he did go on to build a successful career with ICW. He won the ICW Zero-G Championship three times and the ICW Tag Team Championship four times.

In March 2015, Coffey made his debut for Pro Wrestling Elite in the PWE Elite Rumble II, where he wrestled in the 15-Man Elite Royal Rumble number one contendership match for the PWE Heavyweight Championship. Two months later, Mark teamed with his brother Joe to form the tag team “The Coffey Brothers” and unsuccessfully challenged The Addiction for the ROH World Tag Team Championship.

On July 22, 2017 at the Pro Wrestling 6th Anniversary event, Mark Coffey and Jackie Polo as Team Polo Promotions, won a three-way tag match, defeating The New Age Kliq and the defending champions The UK Hooligans (Roy Knight & Zak Knight) to become the new tag team champions. Team Polo Promotions held the titles until May 5 2018, losing to team The Kinky Party.

Mark Coffey’s WWE Debut

In June 2018, both Mark and Joe Coffey debuted on WWE’s NXT UK brand at a third house show of NXT At Download as The Coffey Brothers. In their debut, The Coffey Brothers defeated the American NXT tag team Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight).

The Coffey Brothers formed the stable, Gallus, with Wolfgang, and made their debut in December 2018 during a segment calling out British Strong Style, as well as the returning Travis Banks.

In January 2019, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang won the NXT UK Tag Team Championships from Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews. On February 25, 2021, Gallus’ 16-month reign as NXT UK Tag Team Champions came to an end when they were defeated in a big upset by the team of Pretty Deadly.

Mark Coffey Wins NXT UK Heritage Cup

With just 12 seconds remaining in the sixth and final round, Mark Coffey beat Noam Dar to win the NXT UK Heritage Cup on July 14th 2022’s episode of NXT UK. He lost the NXT UK Heritage Cup back to Noam Dar on the August 25th episode of NXT UK.

On NXT Heatwave, Gallus made their NXT 2.0 debut, attacking Diamond Mine. On August 23rd 2022, Gallus made their tag team debut on NXT facing NXT UK Tag Team Champions Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs, which they would go on to win via countout. At Worlds Collide, Gallus became the second team eliminated from the Fatal four-way tag team elimination match for the NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Championship. Gallus went on to have a rivalry with Briggs and Jensen, with the latter winning a No Disqualification tag team match between the teams. Gallus were later suspended on September for attacking officials.

At New Year’s Evil on January 10th 2023, Gallus returned from their suspension and won a gauntlet match to become the #1 contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championship. At NXT’s Vengeance Day, they won the NXT Tag Team titles.
